To help us discover, during this novena, the mystery of the "soul of Jesus".

Hail Blessed Virgin Mary,

Tender Mother of God and of mankind. By your "YES", we have been able to know Jesus, the Savior of mankind and welcome salvation.

Transform us into true brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ :

Loving what He loves, desiring what He desires, and accomplishing in all things His Will.

You, our Lady, Mother of Wisdom, fashion us into the Image of your Beloved Son who is Lord for ever and ever Amen!

Mary, Mother of Wisdom, lead us to Jesus. Mary, Mother of Sorrows, pray for us.

End the novena each day by saying :

FIRST DAY

How happy are the poor in spirit;

theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

While contemplating your Face O Jesus, I adore you and I offer you to the Father Almighty and ask Him to grant me the grace of true poverty.

When I look at your Face, Jesus, I discover my own poverty. I then have the courage to take a good look at myself :

You are telling me : "Vanity of Vanities. All is vanity !"

O Face of my beloved Jesus, help my heart to go to what is truly essential so that I can go to the Father... Help me feel your Presence, so that it become the only thing that matters in this world. Put only one desire in my heart : GOD AND GOD ALONE !

Through the power of your divine Love I trust ...

SECOND DAY

Happy the gentle : they shall have the earth for their heritage.

While contemplating your Face O Jesus, I adore you and I offer you to the Father Almighty and ask Him to grant me the grace of true gentleness.

When I look at your Face, Jesus, I discover how far I am from being as gentle as you are.

In my daily life, in my words and actions, it is difficult to be as gentle and humble as you. Our world is full of violence, impatience, frustrations and hatred. I am incline to follow the "way of the world" and not your way.

May my strength be your gentleness ! May I be able to speak with kindness, gentleness, joy and love.

• I offer you my lips, may they be used to touch those I meet every day.

• I offer you my arms, my work done with love, care and serenity... may you use it to build a world of LOVE and PEACE.

• I offer you my ears so that you may use them to listen through me with patience and compassion those who speak to me.

• I offer you my life so that you may give to our world PEACE, RECONCILIATION AND FORGIVENESS.

Through the power of your divine Love I trust ...

THIRD DAY

Happy those who mourn,

they shall be conforted.

While contemplating your Face O Jesus, I adore you and I offer you to the Father Almighty and ask Him to grant me the grace of you being my only consolation.

In the light of your suffering Face, give me the courage to die like the grain of wheat in order that I may bear abundant fruits. May suffering be a guide to TRUE LOVE.

I often avoid making an effort that would drive me away from the evil within my own heart. I do not take the means to correct myself, it is too demanding...

I am afraid of letting you take all the space. I prefer to keep some "idols" (money, friendship, jewelry, reputation, popularity...) I am afraid of sacrifices. Give me courage ! Loving Face of my Jesus, give me the courage to die to myself, so that you may become my only consolation. Lord Jesus you are the only one who can wipe my tears.

Through the power of your divine Love I trust ...

FOURTH DAY

Happy those who hunger and thirst for what is right : they shall be satisfied.

While contemplating your Face O Jesus, I adore you and I offer you to the Father Almighty and ask Him to grant me the grace of thirsting for justice.

I am lucky to be born in such a rich country, but it is so difficult for me to open my hands and share with others all you have given me. I am selfish, teach me, Lord, how to share with those who are not as lucky as I am. Open my ears and my heart to the cries of those who suffer hunger and thirst.

I am so fortunate to be able to worship you freely. Help me understand those who are persecuted, tortured for their faith. May I weep with those who weep and be concerned by the Church persecuted in some part of the world.

I offer you today (name a sacrifice...) , it expresses my solidarity and my thirst for justice. "THY KINGDOM COME" in the heart of all men and women.

FIFTH DAY

Happy the merciful :

they shall have mercy shown them.

While contemplating your Face O Jesus, I adore you and I offer you to the Father Almighty and ask Him to grant me the grace of a merciful heart. May this certitude bring peace to my soul and people around :

The whole Bible tells me how merciful you are. You are always willing to welcome anyone. You keep a special place for sinners who ask for forgiveness and for all those who are rejected by society.

Keeping my eyes on you help me understand how important it is to be merciful, to love everyone all the time. To be merciful means to be compassionate, to share, to forgive and...

O Face of Jesus, show me the way to mercy ! It is so easy for me:

• to quickly judge my neighbors, have false ideas about them.

• to demand more from others them from me.

• to be mean with people.

• to put a lot of "may be" when I forgive.

You tell me that I will be judged the way I judge others. Help me love the way you want. Put in my heart the love you want to find in it. Help me become COMPASSIONATE.

Through the power of your divine Love I trust ...

SIXTH DAY

Happy the pure in heart :

they shall see God.

While contemplating your Face O Jesus, I adore you and I offer you to the Father Almighty and ask Him to grant me the grace of

being pure in heart. I want to see your Face oh Lord.

You are telling me to be like children I know that I am no longer like them : to many lies, to many compromises and to many sins.

I fear to show my true self to others, they will see my limits so I put on my mask it is easier that way, I do not get hurt.

Lord, help me open myself to you so that my YES will be a YES as my NO a NO. O Face of my Jesus purify me so that that others may always see you living in me.

SEVENTH DAY

Happy the peacemakers :

for they shall be called sons of God.

While contemplating your Face O Jesus, I adore you and I offer you to the Father Almighty and ask Him to grant me the grace of being a peacemaker. When I look at you I understand that peace comes from within, from the heart.

I am worried about the future, I am afraid and fear all sorts of things. Sometime there is a big hurricane going on inside of me and I become puzzled and troubled and full of doubts. Yes Jesus, I believe that your love is stronger then death.

EIGHTH DAY

Happy those who are persecuted in the cause of right:

theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

While contemplating your Face O Jesus, I adore you and I offer you to the Father Almighty and ask Him to grant me the grace of loving you and my neighbors even if it means dying on the Cross with you.

In the light of your Face disfigured, I discover the price of true love:

• I want to be better, ... but do so little

• I want to be a true Christian, ... but I am afraid of taking the risk

• I want to see justice in the world, ... but I do not dare to get involved.

• I want to be your friend, ... but I fear of displeasing my other friends

Oh Face of Jesus give me the audacity to really bring forward my true convictions, my faith in you, so that I can be more then a "Sunday Christian". Give me to be able to die of love because of your love for me.

Through the power of your divine Love I trust ...

NINTH DAY

While contemplating your Face O Jesus, I adore you and I offer you to the Father Almighty...

... And I thank Him for all the graces that I have received from him, especially since I discovered your Face and I praise God for that.

Heavenly Father, look at the Face of your Beloved Son and grant us Mercy.

I THANK YOU for all the blessings received during this novena.

Spirit of Love, make me a man, a women of the Beatitudes. Take possession of my heart, my intelligence my whole being.

May I become more and more "Christ like". I offer you this prayer through the hands of Mary, Mother of Wisdom.

 

A Prayer of Thanksgiving to the Holy Face of Jesus

O Jesus, I thank you for all the privileges bestowed on me, particularly for the special favor granted me through your Holy Face. In union with Mary, Mother of Wisdom, the angels and all the saints in heaven, I praise and thank you for all the spiritual graces given me which increase in my heart the sublime gifts of Faith, Hope and Charity received at Baptism. By a Christian life well led, I want to be a living example of the great love you have shown for me and for all humanity. Amen !
